Biddy Barclay

My first profession was a studio potter (as Biddy Rose) and our studio pottery was at Milestone House in Yoxford and then at Avocet in Aldeburgh. Using clay with children in schools led me to train further in how the arts can be used in therapy and education and I became an integrative arts psychotherapist.

I was a counsellor and psychotherapist 1994-2017 working with adults of all ages and backgrounds, adolescents and children.

Now I offer a combination of working outdoors with outer and inner wild and using the arts and relaxation. I continue to offer training days and experiential professional development to counsellors.

My training was at the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE) in Islington London. I also trained as a Group Therapist and as Couples Counsellor. In 2016 I trained in Wild Therapy with Nick Totton and Allison  Priestsman. I will undertake a new training in Clay Field work in 2018/19. I was registered for 20 years with UKCP, since retiring from individual work I continue with professional development and peer support but will cease my UKCP registration.

Group experience includes facilitating mental health day service groups using the arts therapeutically; training courses on using creative arts in counselling settings and team building /away days for business and mental health teams.

I continue to work as a ceramic artist and potter. Work is for sale in my studio by appointment. I have practised Tai Chi, GiGong and Yoga for many years and have a great love for free dance. I am also a level 2 Reiki Practioner and use Reiki occasionally in small group sessions.

Dip. Integrative Arts Psychotherapy (1999 IATE).  Dip. Group Dynamics & Groupwork (2007 IATE).   Post Dip. Cert. Person Centred Couples Counselling (2010 “Counselling Works”). Wild Therapy year training 2016-17.
